Dobrota
Dobrota is located close by the ancient city of Kotor and looks straight on to Mt. Vrmac. The seaside promenade in Dobrota runs for several kilometres along the shore beside numerous little stone jetties and old palaces, which are different and more splendid than anywhere else. As in Perast, Prcanj and other places in the Bay of Kotor, the large number of churches still today witness to the strong faith of the old people of Dobrota – of particular note is St Matthew’s Church, dating from the 17th century.
Dobrota is also a place to find very good restaurants, and little seafront cafes where you can truly enjoy the old surroundings of the Bay. On top of this you can find exceptionally attractive places for holidays, also in the original surroundings of the old palaces.
Dobrota is easy to reach, just a couple of minutes from Kotor it is 15 mins from Tivat airport and 60 mins from Dubrovnik airport in Croatia. Both airports offer direct flights between Montenegro and many countries including the UK and Russia.
Bay of Kotor
Boka Kotorska, or Kotor Bay, is a place of stunning natural beauty and a member of the association for the "Most Beautiful Bays in the World". It’s the southern-most fjord in Europe - a vast butterfly shaped expanse of water enclosed by breathtaking mountain scenery.
It’s also a magnet for discerning buyers of overseas property in Montenegro: Many pretty villages and towns dot the shore line. The beautiful village of Perast for example is littered with the preserved palaces of 17th century Venetian merchants and sea captains, each vying for the best view over to the beautiful island monastery of St. George.
At the head of the fjord lies the old city of Kotor, which became a protected UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. Narrow alleyways open out onto preserved piazzas, churches and palaces. The awe-inspiring 12th century city walls climb 200m up the sheer mountain face and form an impressive backdrop to Kotor’s annual Venetian carnival.
