Location & map
Stoliv
The romantic fishing village of Stoliv winds beautifully along the shores of the Bay of Kotor. It lies midway between Kotor's medieval old town and the new marina development Porto Montenegro.
Stoliv's many small jetties are lined with traditional fishing boats – testament to the rich seafaring tradition that has helped shaped the character of this highly sought after location. Picturesque road are lined with many old stone houses built in the medieval style common in this region of Montenegro and the village is dotted with ancient palaces and churches.
There is a wonderful view from Stoliv over to the beautiful village of Perast (UNESCO world heritage site) and the famous islands of Gospa od Skrpjela (Lady of Skrpjela) and Sveti Dorde (St George).
High in the hills above Stoliv perches the improbable Gornji Stoliv (Upper Stoliv). This collection of churches and old stone houses is virtually deserted and only reached by footpath from the seashore, but it remains a vivid reminder of a way of life since passed.
Stoliv's heritage and proximity to the UNESCO Heritage site of Kotor old town ensures that it will be protected from overdevelopment by the Government of Montenegro.
The picturesque village offers an excellent base to explore the rest of Montenegro, being a short distance from, but undisturbed by, the country's major land, sea and air transport routes.
Stoliv is easily accessible, only 5km from Tivat airport in Montenegro and 50km from Dubrovnik airport in Croatia. Both airports offer direct flights between Montenegro and many countries including the UK and Russia
Bay of Kotor
Boka Kotorska, or Kotor Bay, is a place of stunning natural beauty and a member of the association for the "Most Beautiful Bays in the World". It's the southern-most fjord in Europe - a vast butterfly shaped expanse of water enclosed by breathtaking mountain scenery.
It's also a magnet for discerning buyers of overseas property in Montenegro: Many pretty villages and towns dot the shore line. The beautiful village of Perast for example is littered with the preserved palaces of 17th century Venetian merchants and sea captains, each vying for the best view over to the beautiful island monastery of St. George.
